About AbbyBank in Wausau
AbbyBank is proud to be located in the beautiful city of Wausau, Wisconsin since 1998. This location was the second branch AbbyBank opened. You can find us on the corner of S. 18th Avenue and Stewart Avenue, kitty-corner from Marathon Park. Our Wausau location features a two-lane drive-thru banking option with an ATM on location and houses nearly 20 employees.
Wausau is the county seat of Marathon County, located in central Wisconsin on the Wisconsin River. This river is what drew the first settlers to the area in 1839. Originally known as Big Bull Falls because of the sound that the rapids of the river made, soon after its settlement, the lumber industry in the area became the birth of a town. With the growth of the community, the name was changed to the Ojibwe word of Wausau, meaning "far away place". Today, Wausau is a city of approximately 39,000 people and promotes growth with more than 30 schools in total serviced between the Wausau School District, charter and virtual schools, and private schools for K-12 education, including some colleges and universities. In addition, Wausau is home to one of the first ski areas in North America and well over 30 city and county parks in or not far out of the city limits.
It's All About Our Community
Through AbbyBank's community involvement and our AbbyBank Charitable Foundation, we contribute to many local community projects. AbbyBank positively impacts the Wausau area through multiple sponsorships, donations and employee volunteer time. Some of the events and organizations we support in the area include:
